“To get a good render in Mental Ray you actually have to have MR calculate with roughly the same number of polygons that ZBrush does, assuming no normal map. The difference, though, is that MR takes 5 minutes to render a single frame of what ZBrush renders at 60 frames a second while you continue to sculpt.
Mental Ray = 1 frame every 5 minutes
ZBrush = 1 frame every .016 seconds
